This week’s project, new shade structure for the side yard. I had built a temp structure for last year with one inch conduit and a 40% shade cloth. It held up for the season and served it’s purpose, and we took it down last fall. Informed by that experience, I designed something more permanent… 1 ⅝ inch fence posts and fittings, with a 50% proper aluminet shade cloth. The size and placement allows easy vehicle access, and the vertical posts on one side are bolted into the ground. Though it’s not going anywhere, the other side will get sandbags for good measure.

An annoying breaker trip issue last week led to this week’s maintenance project, replacing five old garage outlets with arc-preventing GFI and cleaning up all the wiring. Glad to have them all moved into the done right/known good column.

While it was our intention to wait until after the new year, we found ourselves at an adoption place less than 24 hours later with the intention of seeing what’s out there. We met a few great felines, but it was an instant connection with this little guy. Within seconds of entering the room he was head-butting my leg and leaning in for pets. He chose us, and after a short bout of paperwork we sprung hin from the joint.
