SineSpace is seeking custom FPS (first person shooter) maps using their new BKR (Build Kill Repeat) combat system. They’re offering potential rewards for participation, and so you could win $5000 in a FPS map contest. Winners will be selected by legendary game designer Erik Wolpaw. He’s been involved in Psychonauts, Half Life 2, Portal 1 & 2, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 and other great games.
SineSpace is looking for custom maps with unique gameplay and impressive level design skills. In addition, they are looking for inventive use of SineSpace features. You can get all the details on the competition from this page. The contest deadline is the 22nd of April. After that, they plan to announce the winner at an in-world event with Erik on the 25th.
In the video above, Sine Wave CEO Rohan Freeman announced the partnership with Unity in addition to the competition. He also chatted with Erik to get some advice for creators on building winning entries for the fps map contest.
Hit The Ground Running
Game designers, FPS enthusiasts, and other hopefuls can check out this post on how to get started with Unity and SineSpace. After that, use your modeling program of choice or grab free tools like ProBuilder. If you’re looking to make dynamic, customizable models, check out Archimatix Pro on the Unity Asset Store. If you’re interested in creating your own BKR compatible components, go here to check out the SineSpace Github repository. I also strongly recommend jumping onto the SineSpace Discord where you can connect with other makers and creators, they can often point you in the right direction if you get stuck along the way.
It’s also worth pointing out that you don’t have to build your FPS map from scratch and upload through Unity. You could also build your awesome FPS map using a SineSpace region template from the shop that you then customized with other furniture items and objects from your inventory along with BKR components. The BKR components are available now in the shop (click here for a web shop preview).
